The Pacific Song was made by the Dutch visual artist Nic Jonk (1928-1994) and donated to the foundation by Zeger and Annelies Jonk. The artwork, over three and a half meters high, is made of aluminum and consists of two painted fish. The heart between the tails symbolizes peace and environmental protection, which is also what the name Pacific Song refers to. The importance of environmental protection and in particular the protection of whales is a recurring theme in Nic Jonk’s work. The work is part of the campaign to position a more than three and a half meters high bronze Pacific, also called Ode to the Whales, on the seaside at Blue Bay Resort. Nic Jonk’s dream was to place a Pacific on each of the five oceans.
