Baetens (1948) earned his stripes in education. He has developed didactic materials and written books about, among others, the Groot St. Martha plantation house. He has demonstrated his artistic talents in numerous sculptures in stone but he works mainly in wood. Using the shapes and structures of the wood, Eddy carves, chisels and scrapes (human) figures. In 2015 his Johnny Walker Still Going Strong stood in the doorway of his house / studio near the sea at Lagun to welcome visitors to the Open Studio days. These days the wooden statue stands in the entrance hall of the welcome center in Blue Bay resort as the start of the Sculpture Route. https://youtu.be/Eyoi7sK6m2s
