‘Palu di Spiritu II’

Giovanni Abath, born and raised in Curaçao, is renowned for his innovative sculptures and installations that often create a profound connection between local heritage and contemporary art. His work, which combines materials such as stainless steel, wood, and iron, can be admired at public locations such as Brionplein in Willemstad and the Blue Bay Sculpture Garden.

‘Palu di Spiritu II’ is the successor to Abath’s earlier acclaimed work and reflects the strong bond between nature, culture, and the spiritual force of Curaçao. The sculpture refers to the indigenous Casearia tremula or Geelhout, locally known as kenepa spirito, a tree species with strong symbolic value on the island.
