Acropor

2008
earthenware
65 x 60 x 39 cm

In the center of the garden, in a patch with little stones lies the Acropor by Ellen Spijkstra (1957), an organically shaped ceramic object belonging to her Coralamics series. In the beautiful book “Global, Local” (publisher d’Jonge Hond, 2008), in which both her ceramic work and her photography are described by experts such as Marjan Unger and Marianne de Tolentino, the Coralamics and the Totems play an important role. The Acropor is on loan to the Blue Bay Sculpture Foundation by Ellen’s daughter Cleo.
