Closer to the entrance to the plantation house stands a cream-colored sculpture by Hortence Brouwn (1938), called ‘Sweet Protection’. A well-chosen title that has endowed the massive, (but, due to its flowing lines, not rigid) statue, with a sweet character. Menno and Christina Vermeulen-Meiners, and also a little, as a result of their mutual agreement with Hortence Brouwn, have all donated this statue made of Tafelberg stone to the Sculpture Garden Foundation.
