Maghalie van der Bunt-George (1973) has a powerful, rather small statue of Tafelberg stone in the sculpture garden which is reminiscent of the shapes of the oldest Venus statuettes from thirty to twenty thousand years ago. Some of those were only a few centimeters tall. The big breasts, buttocks, hips and belly of Maghalie’s creation give the statue a primal force. Is it a tribute to the Curaçaoan woman, who is characterized by her inspirational perseverance? Donated by the Gulmans family to the Blue Bay Sculpture Garden Foundation.
