Yubi Kirindongo (1946), recipient of the 1997 Cola Debrot Prize, has made a sculpture to be placed in the lake at plantation house Blauw . Kirindongo uses discarded materials, with which he has become very well-known at home and abroad. After his successful exhibition in Museum Beelden aan Zee in Scheveningen and the publication of the book ‘Rebel in Art’ by Thomas Meijer Zu Schlochtern, Yubi has continued to expand his oeuvre – with, among other pieces, a granite dolphin in the Sea Aquarium and the beautification of his own sculpture garden and museum, which gives pride of place to his museum-worthy sculpture, the red Chevrolet Camaro, that has been featured in an important international catalog.
