Avantia Damberg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With assistance from Arnold Bakker and Rina Rojer. Avantia Damberg (1977) has created a Map of Cura\u00e7ao which consists of rod-like coral stones on which are stamped, in ink, the most commonly occurring names of the Cura\u00e7ao population per district or region since 1863. The coral stones are attached with mortar onto a free-standing sculpture, made up of natural stones. This is the third version. The first paper version was displayed in the Cura\u00e7ao Museum for almost 3 years following the Exploring the Past to Envisage the Future exhibition of 2014. The second version is on view as a tile montage at Kranshi (the civil registry).<br \/>\nAvantia is a conceptual, spatial artist who has also demonstrated her skills as a maker of videos and animations. After a long sojourn in the Netherlands she has reintegrated in her native society by delving into the history of Curacao\u2019s surnames and the stories behind them.Met assistentie van Arnold Bakker en Rina Rojer Avantia Damberg (1977) heeft een Map of Cura\u00e7ao gemaakt, bestaande uit staaf-achtige koraalsteentjes waarop de meest voorkomende namen sinds 1863 van de Cura\u00e7aose bevolking per wijk\/regio in inkt gestempeld staan. De koraalsteentjes zijn gemetseld op een losstaand beeld, opgebouwd uit natuurstenen. Dit is de derde versie. De eerste, papieren versie, hing bijna 3 jaar in Het Cura\u00e7aosch Museum na de expositie Exploring the Past to Envisage the Future in 2014. De tweede versie hangt in Kranshi (het bevolkingsregister) als tegeltableau. Avantia is conceptueel, ruimtelijk kunstenares die zich eveneens bekwaamd heeft in het maken van video\u2019s en animaties.
